Laboratory Technician

OVERVIEW

The Lab Tech conducts quality testing for the Refinery’s products, maintains calibrated instrumentation, enters data into SAP for generation of Certificates of Analysis (COAs), conducts environmental sampling and analysis, and participates in other projects as assigned by supervisor.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs routine quality analyses such as sediment, grain size distribution, color, brix, polarity, pH, and environmental analyses
• Maintains calibrations for lab equipment
• Makes adjustments and/or alerts supervision to instrument problems if needed
• Reports the general condition of equipment to supervisor and recommends replacement when necessary
• Enters raw data into multiple databases and maintains chronology of entries
• Collects environmental samples at multiple sites throughout the refinery during sugar detector TOC alarm conditions and weekly sampling protocol
• Analyzes environmental samples to determine sucrose levels
• Maintains work area cleanliness
• Maintains required records and documentation
• Enters data into SAP for the generation of COAs
• Communicates results to interested stakeholders and adheres to the Lab’s high customer service standards
• Performs other duties as may be assigned

WORK EXPERIENCES

• Quality inspection experience
• Experience requiring mathematical and scientific skill sets
• Experience in a manufacturing environment

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field from an accredited college university.

PAY RANGE

The pay range for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. Salary range: $41,500 - $69,500.00
