Laboratory Technical Associate-Main Laboratory

About the role

Laboratory Technical Associate – Main Lab at UnityPoint Health – Allen. Full-time position with hours 0445–1315, every-other-weekend rotation, three on-call shifts per month, and holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process laboratory samples including blood, urine, limited cultures, and send-outs.
• Run and perform minor maintenance on basic laboratory instrumentation and testing.
• Assist technologists with stocking supplies, washing laboratory dishes, inventory management, and follow-up on reports.
• Answer incoming telephone calls.
• Register and look up orders for samples in the Hospital Information System; enter data and order samples into the Laboratory Information System.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
• Six months of experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Certification

Qualifies as Testing Personnel under Federal Register sections 493.15, 493.20, and 493.1423 for waived and moderate complexity testing.
