Laboratory Science Professional (Open Rank: Entry – Senior)
About the role
The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full-time Laboratory Science Professional to support the lab of Dr. Debo Sardar. This entry-level position offers hands-on research experience in sensory neuroscience, glial biology, and epigenomics. The primary responsibility involves performing mouse brain surgeries and maintaining mouse colonies. The role also includes assisting with various experiments such as immunohistochemistry, genomics, microscopy, and behavioral assays.
Responsibilities
- Performing mouse brain surgeries using stereotaxis methods and in-utero electroporation
- Maintain mouse colonies by breeding, weaning, genotyping, and colony maintenance
- Coordinate with lab members to ensure animal production aligns with experimental needs
- Harvest mouse brain tissue and section brain slices
- Prepare the lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, preparing solutions, and equipment
- Dispose of laboratory materials and samples according to established guidelines
- Review, complete, and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials
- Aid in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
- One to three years of professional research experience in a research environment
- Prior experience with surgeries and mouse colony management
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field preferred
- Three to five years of professional research experience preferred
Benefits
The University of Colorado offers generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions as part of total compensation. The starting salary range for this position is $46,274 to $69,248, depending on experience.
