About the role
The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a Laboratory Manager I to join Dr. Xinyan Tracy Cui’s lab. This position involves managing day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices, and performing a variety of administrative and technical duties.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices
- Write and update Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols
- Order and receive inventory and equipment
- Maintain inventory and equipment
- Interact with vendors and facility management
- Maintain cell cultures
- Perform histological tissue processing and imaging
- Assist with small animal surgeries and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field
- Ability to speak clearly for telephone contact
- Manual dexterity to use equipment
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
Qualifications
- General physical ability to move within the lab and occasionally visit industry or other locations throughout the campus
Skills

- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and procedures
