Laboratory Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lab Manager to lead our Clinical Laboratory operations across our South Carolina Region. The position involves providing strategic and operational leadership for laboratory services, fostering a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements, managing departmental budgets, resources, and operational performance, developing, mentoring, and maintaining competency of laboratory team members, partnering with physicians, pathologists, and healthcare leaders to support exceptional patient care, and driving performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and operational performance
• Develop, mentor, and maintain competency of laboratory team members
• Possess strong leadership skills to partner with physicians, pathologists, and healthcare leaders to support exceptional patient care
• Drive performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
• Ensure the delivery of accurate, reliable, and cost-effective laboratory services

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry. MBA or MHA preferred
• Experience: Minimum of five years recent previous experience in the management of clinical laboratory of an acute care hospital
• Must have experience with regulatory and accreditation requirements of laboratory operations, including CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and CMS
• Other Qualifications: An understanding of current trends in clinical laboratory services and operations and knowledge of quality, statistical concepts preferred
