Responsibilities
- Conducts experiments, tests, and research within a laser laboratory setting.
- Assists more experienced engineers or scientists in designing and setting up experiments, maintaining equipment, and collecting data.
- Diagnoses and performs preventative maintenance on system components including recovery, replacement, and reconfiguration of damaged sensitive components.
- Manages fragile targets for laser exploration.
Requirements
- Required to assemble millimeter-scale components that meet specifications.
- Develops innovative but practical solutions to technical problems in target assembly to enhance manufacturability.
- Works in a cleanroom laboratory environment, using manual techniques to manipulate delicate micro-assemblies.
- Operates microscope in cleanroom environment.
- Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequences, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
- Designs the sequence of production operations, specifies procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment, and adapts machinery.
- Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
- Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions and communicates results to staff.
- Measures completed assemblies using metrology hardware and collects data.
- Cleans, adjusts, and replaces parts on lab equipment.
- Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
