About the role

At HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, you come first. We are looking for a dedicated FSER Point of Care Coordinator to supervise and provide guidance and administration of Point-of-Care testing under the direction of the division administrative and medical directors. This role supports freestanding emergency departments (FSER) and facilities in meeting patient care and regulatory agency requirements, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and administer Point-of-Care testing to meet regulatory and patient care requirements.
  • Monitor performance, collect and evaluate performance data, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Assist in training and educating personnel regarding Point-of-Care activities.
  • Support department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, and integration of intra- and inter-departmental activities.
  • Review proficiency testing, quality assurance, and performance data; develop corrective action plans where indicated.
  • Complete all required records/documentation for quality assurance and Point-of-Care testing.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and independent thinking in correlating and interpreting patient results.
  • Monitor accreditation agency licensure status and assist in preparing licensure and renewal paperwork (CAP, CLIA, AHCA, business license, etc.).
  • Work with regulatory agencies and HCA legal resources to ensure licensure documentation is completed as required.
  • Prepare annual programs and assessments for Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory compliance.
  • Assist Division Administrative and Medical Directors in reviewing performance data and identifying corrective actions.
  • Ensure equipment is operated correctly and periodic maintenance is performed according to schedule.
  • Monitor utilization of Point-of-Care reagents and supplies.
  • Provide ongoing education on quality assurance and Point-of-Care testing programs.
  • Maintain education and development appropriate for the position.
  • Act as a resource for Point-of-Care testing, quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.
  • Prepare, organize, and present performance information for meetings in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of Point-of-Care testing equipment.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and protect sensitive and confidential information.
  • Provide coverage during disasters.

Requirements

  • 4-Year/Bachelor’s Degree in a biologic or chemical science.
  • Supervisor’s License required (FL).
  • 3+ years of experience in an applicable area with proficiency in Point-of-Care and quality assurance concepts.
  • 1-3 years in a clinical laboratory setting with quality assurance and/or Point-of-Care testing preferred.
