About the role
This role is responsible for performing and supervising laboratory analysis of ingredients and recording results. You will ensure laboratory functions are followed, including correct methods, complete and accurate records, Good Laboratory Practices, and proper safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Lead site lab technicians conducting physical and chemical tests, including pipettes, pH meter, water activity meter, NIR, Lateral Flow Device, and ELISA methods.
- Interpret analytical method procedures and safety instructions using standard chemistry terms and measures.
- Deploy and implement any new Mars-approved methods required by the Regional Q&FS Testing Manager.
- Maintain all records of analytical testing and quality control lab documentation.
- Track, trend analysis, and other Quality Control-related responsibilities; inform Q&FS Manager and Line Manager of quality deviations according to Mars Internal procedures.
- Clean and maintain lab equipment, including calibration, limited instrument troubleshooting, and problem diagnosis.
- Supervise and may operate sampling of raw materials from bulk trucks, big bags, and totes.
- Coordinate activities relating to MGS Regional Labs or external labs, including sample preparation and delivery.
- Interpret data from routine analysis for raw materials to validate compliance with specifications.
- Ensure lab compliance with the quality management system and Site Lab Standard through training, documentation, quality records, and audits.
- Manage all CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) related to site lab activities.
- Train and instruct lab technicians, including routine calculations pertaining to analytical chemistry (e.g., dilution, concentration, test results).
- Ensure lab participation in ring trials and proficiency testing programs.
- Participate in the Regional site lab community under the governance of Regional Q&FS testing and conformance.
- Report quarterly metrics to MGS.
- Liaise with MGS Site Lab Support Scientist regarding compliance and root cause analysis.
Requirements
- Ability to perform and train others on routine calculations in analytical chemistry.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and methods (e.g., pipettes, pH meter, NIR, ELISA).
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and quality management systems.
- Supervisory experience in a lab environment.

Pay
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is USD 29.28 - USD 40.26 per hour. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes variable pay.
