Laboratory Care Technician

About the role

Fairview is seeking a Laboratory Care Technician (LCT) to join the Acute Care Laboratory at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank. This is a part‑time Day Shift position with a 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) schedule, working three 8‑hour shifts per week (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and includes a weekend rotation of three weekends out of every six. The Acute Care Laboratories support a wide range of testing, including hematology, chemistry, blood gas, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion medicine, and blood collection/processing. The West Bank lab serves both pediatric and adult patients and is staffed 24/7 by a dedicated team of 100 professionals. Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays an important role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with M Health Fairview Values as they interact with patients, families, and co‑workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection at various M Health Fairview or outreach locations, provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point‑of‑care testing, accurately enters orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems, monitors computer logs for incomplete work, schedules tests/procedures and provides results in LIS/HIS and over the phone
