About the role
Precise Software Solutions is seeking an experienced Laboratory Business Analyst to support a federal contract. This role will serve as the primary liaison between FDA laboratory scientists, IT stakeholders, and the STARLIMS development team to gather requirements, document process gaps, validate improvements, and support acceptance testing for STARLIMS.
Responsibilities
- Conduct structured interviews and workshops with the government customer team to assess the current state of the STARLIMS implementation and document functional requirements for all documented enhancements.
- Translate laboratory workflows — including sample receiving, chain of custody management, inventory tracking, and sample disposition — into clear, actionable system requirements and user stories.
- Serve as the quality and compliance bridge, ensuring all system changes support ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation requirements and align with government information security and Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Support the development of the project plan, including milestone timelines, responsibility matrices, and demonstration/presentation content for the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and improvement team.
- Facilitate two post-upgrade system training sessions for laboratory staff and support specialized report-building training for up to five designated users.
- Author and maintain monthly status reports for delivery to the COR and contribute to all required security assessment documentation support activities in coordination with the security team.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of experience as a business analyst supporting laboratory information management systems (LIMS), electronic lab notebooks, or related laboratory IT environments.
- Demonstrated experience eliciting and documenting requirements from scientific or laboratory end users in a regulated federal or pharmaceutical environment.
- Working knowledge of laboratory workflows including sample management, chain of custody, inventory management, and sample disposition processes.
- Ability to obtain an FDA Public Trust background investigation at the Sensitive Moderate Risk (Tier 2) level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with STARLIMS, LabVantage, LABWORKS, or equivalent LIMS platforms.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation requirements and government regulatory environments.
- Experience with electronic lab notebook platforms, and knowledge of ELN-LIMS integration patterns.
- Familiarity with federal information security compliance requirements, including FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
- CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent business analysis certification.
