About the role
The Laboratory Associate performs a variety of tasks related to the pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing performed in the clinical laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Data entry of client demographic information
- Processing test orders and order review
- Reconciling specimen/order problems
- Affixing assistance with facilitating send-out testing
- Ensuring proper patient registration
- Paper requisition filing
- Supply management support
- Answering phones
- Ensuring proper labeling of samples and sample distribution
- Serving as a primary resource for Specimen Receiving to address problems and identify resolutions
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences including 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of any combination of chemical or biological sciences.
