About the role
The Laboratory Assistant (Technical) position plays a crucial role in the lab technical departments. The primary responsibilities include assisting with technical procedures within regulatory guidelines, handling telephone calls, and performing various clerical duties. Additionally, the role may involve performing CLIA-waived and moderate complex testing as needed.
Responsibilities
- Utilize expertise in laboratory procedures and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Aid in specimen intake, processing, and organization for testing areas.
- Support departmental functions such as culture plating, histology staining, and specimen loading on instruments.
- Review pending test lists to enhance department turnaround time.
- Investigate and resolve specimen issues and customer inquiries, providing accurate information on specimen and testing status.
- Maintain and monitor department supplies and reagents, logging them according to department protocols.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED upon hire.
- Certificate from an Other Lab Assistant Program upon hire.
- 6 months of experience in an acute care facility preferred.
- Certificate from an Other Phlebotomy program preferred.

Pay
The posted compensation range is $23.35 - $32.99 per hour, reflecting the lowest to highest pay CommonSpirit Health believes it might pay for this position, based on current circumstances.
Schedule
The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 08:30 am to 5:00 pm, with a total of 80 hours per week.
