Laboratory Assistant - Per Diem
About the role
As a Laboratory Assistant at Providence Medford Medical Center, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely receiving, processing, and labeling of laboratory specimens, and the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results. You will work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants, and other Laboratory Services staff.

- Appropriate handling and disbursement of laboratory data and patient results.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, vendors, consultants, and other laboratory staff.
Requirements
- 2 years of healthcare or related field experience, OR a combination of applicable experience and education.
- Clerical or client services experience.
- Experience with State and Federal and other regulatory compliance regulations including Medicare Secondary Payor (MSP), EMTALA, ABN, HIPAA.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: 2 years of college with courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology, or Associate's Degree with courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology, or Bachelor's Degree with courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Certification from a Clinical Laboratory Assistant program or certification from a phlebotomy program with 1 year of phlebotomy-related experience, or 3 years of related experience.
- Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (ASCP, NCA, etc.) upon hire.
- Industry-related experience in a high-volume, acute care setting.
- 2 years of phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, clinical laboratory experience, or certification.
- Job experience in specimen collection, specimen preparation, equipment operation, pneumatic tube systems, and other laboratory equipment.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.17 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
