Laboratory Assistant - Per Diem

Location: 435 Lewis Avenue, Midstate Medical Center (10123)

About the Role

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the lab assistant is responsible for support functions, preanalytical processing, preparing specimens to send to appropriate reference laboratories, and accessioning/registration functions. Additional duties include performance of waived and moderate complexity testing, inventory control and management, specimen storage and retrieval, and laboratory maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preanalytical processing and prepare specimens for reference laboratories.
• Handle accessioning and registration functions.
• Conduct waived and moderate complexity testing.
• Manage inventory control and specimen storage/retrieval.
• Perform laboratory maintenance tasks.
• Operate a pneumatic tube system.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements to ensure a safe laboratory environment and meet accreditation standards.
• Adapt to laboratory needs related to testing and scheduling.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• One (1) year as a Medical or Lab Assistant or demonstrated experience in a laboratory.
• Ability to comply with OSHA and regulatory requirements.
• Flexibility to adapt to laboratory needs related to testing and scheduling.
