Laboratory Assistant Microbiology

About the role

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant Microbiology to join our team at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. The position is part-time, with varied hours between 3:30 pm and 11:30 pm weekdays and 10:00 am to 6:30 pm weekends.

Responsibilities

• Collects, transports, receives, prepares and accurately tests biological specimens using procedures consistent with safe work practices and proper laboratory technique while maintaining integrity of specimens.
• Performs waived and moderate complex testing as allowed by CLIA regulations.
• Critically evaluates specimen integrity. Ensures that lab results fit clinical context for each individual patient’s specimen. Immediately reports testing outside of normal parameters to authorized testing personnel. Communicates and documents test status and results in a timely manner to clinical personnel involved in patient care.
• Maintains and operates test systems for optimal performance; collaborates with tech or technician to resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• An associates or bachelors degree in related field preferred.
• One year of lab experience preferred.
• Experience with microorganisms, fungus, antibiotics, and medical terminology desired.

Pay

The posted compensation range is $18.51 - $26.15 /hour.

Schedule

Varied hours, between 3:30 pm and 11:30 pm weekdays and 10:00 am to 6:30 pm weekends.
