About the role
This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus. Performs blood specimen collection, specimen receipt, and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested. Will process anatomic pathology and cytology specimens, as requested. Assists pathologists and histotechs as needed. Will supervise or lead lab assistant I and II positions, as requested.
Responsibilities
- Completes prioritization, receipt, registration, and distribution of specimens.
- Has responsibility for send out/reference lab shipping, tracking, and billing.
- Performs waived testing, as requested.
- Assists with processing of anatomic pathology specimens including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining and specimen management, as requested.
Requirements
Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Associate degree in the laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution
Experience
- Required: 3 years of laboratory experience
- Preferred: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience
Certifications
- Required: Phlebotomy certification where State law requires
- Preferred: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
