Laboratory Assistant III

About the role

Perform blood specimen collection, laboratory specimen receipt and distribution, and conduct CLIA waived tests. Assist with anatomic pathology and cytology specimen processing, including preparing tissue slides and staining. Supervise or lead Lab Assistant I and II positions as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and manage specimen workflow
• Handle send-out/reference lab shipping, tracking, and billing
• Operate laboratory equipment and ensure accurate data entry
• Verify specimen integrity
• Maintain effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals
• Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and teamwork
• Apply proper laboratory terminology and follow protocols
• Handle multiple high-volume tasks with attention to detail

Requirements

• Minimum one year of laboratory or phlebotomy experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid phlebotomy certification (if required)

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Experience with laboratory information systems
• Associate degree in a related field
• National phlebotomy certification
