About the role

This position is a TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME NON-BENEFITED, EVENING SHIFT opportunity at the SCPMG Regional Reference Lab in Woodland Hills.

Responsibilities

- Perform venipuncture and skin puncture and pre-analytical and post-analytical steps of laboratory testing. - Uphold Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. - Select appropriate phlebotomy techniques relative to the age and physical maturation of the patient. - Assess the quality of blood to be drawn from the patient based on their age, physical maturation, and the test or study to be performed. - Proficiently perform venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick on patients of all ages. - Properly label samples and transport them to the laboratory or to a Clinical Laboratory Scientist as required. - Perform the pre-analytical phase of testing by bar coding, centrifuging, separating, logging, culturing, and staining of bacteriological specimens. - Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of supplies and reagents. - Maintain courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients, and other personnel. - Perform other duties as required, including checking in patients, collecting appropriate revenue, accessioning test orders, and giving preparation instructions to patients. - Handle difficult patients professionally. - Demonstrate professionalism in attitude and appearance. - Follow all supervisors' directives. - Assume other activities and responsibilities as directed.

Requirements

- One (1) year phlebotomy experience in an acute care medical center or non-acute care setting, or equivalent military experience. - High school diploma or General Education Development (GED). - Phlebotomy Technician II Certificate (California) OR Phlebotomy Technician I Certificate (California). - Demonstrated ability to perform the duties/responsibilities of the job at a fully satisfactory performance level. - Relevant college courses in the life sciences.

Qualifications

- Flexibility is a must. - Temporary position for approximately three (3) months. - Variable position, start times may vary within the specific shift. - Covers all lab locations in the Woodland Hills and Ventura service area.
