Laboratory Assistant II - Runde Clinic (Teutopolis)

Responsibilities

• Draw blood, process specimens, order entry in lab computer, log results, perform glucose tolerances, EKGs and limited laboratory waived testing.
• Ensure patient well-being during laboratory procedures.
• Order entry into the laboratory computer.
• Collect blood, urine, nasal wash, throat and MRSA specimens from patients.
• Perform EKGs.
• Process specimens according to lab procedures.
• Set up urine and throat cultures as assigned.
• Perform rapid strep testing, urine dipstick analysis, urine pregnancy testing, IStat and other testing as assigned.
• Record quality control and log results on appropriate worksheets and in the computer.
• Communicate effectively and handle heavy workloads, competing demands and stress.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic customer service philosophy.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED required.
• Experience in phlebotomy is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate well.
• Must be able to lift occasional light loads up to 20 lbs.
• Must be able to stand, bend over and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to handle heavy workloads, competing demands and stress well.
