Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, and accurately document clinical and research specimens arriving in the laboratory.
  • Ensure laboratory samples are properly accessioned, prepared, and routed to the appropriate testing areas.
  • Support the timely distribution of laboratory reports through a variety of communication methods.
  • Respond to requests related to laboratory reports, specimen tracking, and testing information by phone, email, mail, and other communication channels.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support laboratory operations and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with laboratory quality control, quality assurance, and routine equipment maintenance activities.
  • Monitor laboratory supply levels and help coordinate ordering and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with laboratory professionals and other departments to support efficient workflows and excellent service.
  • Help identify and resolve issues that could impact turnaround times, testing processes, or customer service.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant I at Roswell Park; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or scientific related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology; or
  • Associate’s degree and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in a comparable medical/clinical setting; or
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology.
