Laboratory Assistant II (Floater)

About the role

Located at Cape Coral Hospital, 636 Del Prado Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33990, within the Lab - Outreach Services department. This is a full‑time position functioning as a floater role, providing coverage at various draw stations across up to nine different locations. The Laboratory Assistant II (Floater) performs clinical, clerical, and financial duties within the scope of laboratory services.

Responsibilities

• Clinical duties: specimen verification and processing, phlebotomy, sample tracking including crediting and cancellation of laboratory testing, and processing send out tests.
• Clerical duties: phone reception, printing and distribution of reports, operation of office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines and printers, basic computer skills in the laboratory and hospital information systems.
• Financial duties: insurance verification, reviewing patient accounts for proper diagnosis coding, and providing necessary forms (e.g., ABN) and documentation to ensure payment of services.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (or GED) required.
• Experience: Less than 1 year in Clinical Laboratory, Billing/Insurance, or Phlebotomy (preferred).

Qualifications

• State of Florida licensure: Not required.

Benefits

• $1,500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates.

Pay

$20.50 – $24.09 per hour (minimum to midpoint).

Schedule

Shift 1: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM; includes some weekends.
