About the role
The laboratories of Indiana University Health offer comprehensive laboratory services, performing over 19 million tests annually. The Lab Assistant I supports these operations by handling specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, and related clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare specimens for testing
- Enter orders and register patients and specimens
- Deliver specimens as required
- Perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
- May serve on committees or projects contributing to departmental goals
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program
- Experience in laboratory or relevant coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred
- Valid Indiana operator's license and good driving record within the past three years
- Understanding of Indiana traffic laws
- Working knowledge of computers
- Telephone skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
Qualifications
