Laboratory Assistant I

About the role

The laboratories of Indiana University Health offer comprehensive laboratory services, performing over 19 million tests annually. The Lab Assistant I supports these operations by handling specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, and related clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare specimens for testing
• Enter orders and register patients and specimens
• Deliver specimens as required
• Perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
• May serve on committees or projects contributing to departmental goals

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program
• Experience in laboratory or relevant coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred
• Valid Indiana operator's license and good driving record within the past three years
• Understanding of Indiana traffic laws
• Working knowledge of computers
• Telephone skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications
