About the role
The laboratories of Indiana University Health offer comprehensive laboratory services, performing over 19 million tests annually. The Lab Assistant I position involves general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare specimens for testing
- Enter orders and register patients and specimens
- Deliver specimens as required
- Perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
- May serve on committees or projects contributing to departmental goals
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program with relevant experience
- Valid Indiana operator's license and good driving record
- Working knowledge of computers and telephone skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
