Laboratory Assistant (Evening) - Wilcox Medical Center

About the role

Located in Lihue, HI, this full‑time position is with Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, a member of Sonic Healthcare USA. The role supports the patient‑care process by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly collected, processed, prepared, routed, and stored. Employees work in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and must follow PPE requirements while championing safety, compliance, and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Collect (including phlebotomy), process, prepare, route, and store laboratory specimens.
• Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
• Work safely in a laboratory setting with biological hazards and PPE requirements.
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control initiatives.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and adhere to privacy and security standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment (e.g., telephones, computers, centrifuges, audible alarms).
• Bonus: 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.

Pay

Base hourly rate: $19.74 – $21.71, based on experience.

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 scheduled weekly hours. Days/hours to be determined.
