Responsibilities
- Maintains and distributes laboratory supplies.
- Ensures all equipment is functioning correctly or schedules repairs/replacements.
- Orders, receives, stocks, ships, and tracks laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Maintains inventory of all consumables and reagents.
- Assists in arranging the disposal of biohazard and chemical waste.
- Assists in enforcing laboratory policies and procedures.
- Enforces safety around personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Fulfills safety, infection control, security, compliance, and hazardous material protocols.
Requirements
- Associate of Science Degree preferred.
- Basic knowledge in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry related to infectious diseases required.
- One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting or completion of a relevant certification program preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification or Phlebotomist Certification (ASCP, AMT, NPA, etc.) or equivalent required, with Louisiana state licensure.
