About the role
Serve as Biological Technician SME for Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIDR).
Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigator with the safe and effective scientific and administrative tasks of the laboratory and supporting staff.
- Knowledgeable on and experienced in mammalian cell culture; in performing molecular methods (cloning, expression, qPCR, etc); as well as in producing and purifying mRNA and recombinant protein products.
- Trained in small rodent handling techniques to include blood collection, immunization and dissection.
- Experienced in good laboratory practices and performing immunological assays to assess immune responses (such as ELISA, IFA, ELISpot, etc.) to support DHA relevant projects.
- Track and maintain status of supply/reagent/sample and equipment inventories.
- Experience with writing and revising SOPs, risk assessments and study reports/summaries.
- Manage notebooks, data files, and perform data analysis using basic stats or graphic programs.
- Strong organization and project management skills.
- Demonstrable ability to troubleshoot.
- Prominent oral and written communication skills.
Requirements
- BS in a life science discipline
- 3+ years research laboratory experience performing immunological assessment assays or a recent Master’s degree with a research laboratory component
Qualifications
- Experience with DoD, DHA, or WRAIR Biologics Research
