Core Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) and instruct patients on providing other samples.
- Receive, label, centrifuge, and distribute samples to the correct testing departments.
- Accurately enter patient information and test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Sterilize and clean lab equipment, glassware, and work areas to prevent contamination.
- Track inventory and stock testing supplies.
- Maintain lab equipment and calibrate instruments.
- Monitor temperatures of storage units and report any discrepancies in test results.
- Field inquiries from nursing units, doctors' offices, and patients regarding specimen requirements and test status.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred.
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Skills
Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
