Laboratory Assistant

About the role

This is a USW Union Position with a schedule of .8 FTE (32 hours per week) with varied shifts. UPHS Marquette is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network. We are dedicated to prioritizing your well-being so you can provide exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory duties including phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Order, process, and distribute laboratory specimens
• Review pending reports, manifests, and other lab results for outstanding results
• Assist with specimen storage and retrieval to meet Turn Around Times (TATs)
• Maintain inventory for phlebotomy services, reference lab supplies, and departmental office supplies
• Receive, identify, accession, process, and transport specimens

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Drivers License
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Basic math, interpretive, and analytical skills
• Information collection and management, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
