About the role
This Lab Assistant position operates in a high-volume, production-based clinical lab environment, playing a critical role in diagnostic processes. The role is based in the Histology department at one of the world’s largest diagnostic companies, offering growth opportunities in a professional lab setting with some chemical exposure. Training will be provided, and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. The position requires working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Responsibilities
- Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
- Scan and/or enter data of specimen and patient information.
- Ensure all lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
- Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
- Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable handling biological specimens.
- Ability to accurately identify specimens.
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 3:00 AM – 11:30 AM.
Pay
$18.81 per hour.
