About The Role

The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for performing chemical and biological testing of water and wastewater throughout the treatment process to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining water quality standards by conducting laboratory analyses, preparing regulatory reports, maintaining accurate records, and supporting treatment operations and inspections.

  • Conduct chemical and biological testing of water and wastewater samples throughout the treatment process
  • Perform compliance monitoring, testing, and reporting functions required by regulatory agencies
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, files, and documentation of testing results
  • Clean, organize, and maintain laboratory facilities and equipment, including sterilization procedures to prevent cross-contamination
  • Maintain a daily laboratory journal and communicate activities and findings to the supervisor
  • Prepare reports, data sheets, correspondence, and other documentation as required
  • Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies and materials as needed
  • Assist with operational and reporting functions related to water, wastewater, or pretreatment processes
  • Support regulatory inspections and audits by providing documentation and technical information
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education And Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of directly related experience
    • OR Associate's Degree from an accredited community college and four (4) to six (6) years of directly related experience
    • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Special Requirements:
    • Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License
    • Valid C-Surface Certification or higher Process Control Chemistry Certification and Microbiological Certification for water treatment, or the ability to obtain certifications within one (1) year of hire

Schedule

This position works a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
