Laboratory Analyst
Responsibilities
- Promote safety in the operation of the laboratory
- Perform various housekeeping and other tasks to ensure the safety of the laboratory
- Work shift work and be available to work overtime as required for vacancies
- Collect samples from refinery operating units and deliver to the laboratory a minimum of every two hours
- Deliver sample cylinders, bottles, tags and other lab supplies to the operating units as required
- Sample component blend tanks and finished product tanks
- Requires coordination with outside inspection companies
- Sample collection types will include tap, upper, middle, lower, and averages of tanks
- Ensure proper identification/tagging of the samples and deliver to the laboratory (Up to 6 tanks per day)
- Train and qualify on analytical tests as required by supervision. This includes:
- Processing samples from login to disposal
- Preparing standards and reagents as required
- Performing analytical analyses
- Reporting timely and accurate data to the lab database
- Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment as directed including calibrations
Minimum Requirements
- Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related field, OR Four (4) years of laboratory experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must not have tested with CITGO Lake Charles within the past 12 months
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials Card)
- Must have the ability to work shift work and be available for overtime
- Must have the ability to climb ladders/work in high locations
- Must successfully complete assessments, background checks, and medical exams
