Overview
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager of Float Pool. Coordinates and assists the nurse managers, directors, supervisors, charge nurses and practice managers with staffing using critical thinking skills and effective communication that maintains a patient focused environment of excellence. Works closely with all departments and offices to maintain various staffing information and reports. Supports the educational needs of new team members in the department.
What You Will Do
- Demonstrates outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to be flexible with last minute changes and fair when managing the needs of individual team members using a positive, helpful tone of voice.
- Communicates effectively with unit managers, charge nurses and office managers regarding scheduling and potential changes.
- Receives daily staff requests from multiple facilities and fills them based on highest need efficiently.
- Uses critical thinking skills to coordinate, organize and prepare work schedules for team members to ensure that the appropriate amount of staff is available for each work shift to meet system-wide goals.
- Receives and directs call-ins to appropriate supervisor.
- Demonstrates the ability to monitor and track staff for overtime accumulation.
- Generates, manages, and updates master schedules while making adjustments as needed according to census fluctuation, call-ins and pre-planned leaves of absences.
- Verifies that work hours are charged to appropriate cost center.
- Reports staffing adjustments to the units or practices on an ongoing basis.
- Maintains accurate attendance records, commitment tracking, and follows up with facilities when appropriate.
- Performs general duties for the department to include answering telephone, accepting and documenting call-outs, collaborating with units regarding staffing needs, calling and scheduling staff after hours and on weekends, ordering supplies, filing.
- Aids in compiling orientation and training materials and other general needs of the department.
- Handles problems and complex issues with resourcefulness and a solution oriented approach. Includes timekeeping, staffing, and other duties as assigned by the department.
- Demonstrates a "service" attitude. Interacts professionally and provides information on programs/services. Assists in services recovery.

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required), Associates Degree, related field (Preferred)
- Experience: 1 year Patient care or customer service experience (Required), 1 year Administrative healthcare experience with skills in staff coordination, scheduling and timekeeping (Preferred)
- Knowledge: Kronos Timekeeper and Scheduler Knowledge of staff competency and licensure requirements to be scheduled to work in specific units (Required)
- Skills and Abilities: Understanding of medical terminology (Preferred), Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher) (Required)
