Labor Foreman

About the Role

A Laborer Foreman oversees and supervises work crews on a new construction site, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Meet all physical demands of the role (see Physical Requirements).
• Operate industrial hand tools and power tools.
• Maintain reliable transportation and work up to 7 days a week as needed.
• Perform manual activities such as moving equipment, digging, retrieving tools, standing by for fire safety, and other tasks as directed by a supervisor or journeyman.
• Use fire extinguishers and climb structures and scaffolding.
• Operate rigging and hoisting devices (e.g., chokers, chain falls, come-alongs) to move equipment and materials.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, including lubrication and repairing worn parts.
• Follow directions from supervisors.
• Supervise a crew of 5–15 craft workers, including journeymen, helpers, and laborers.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and manual dexterity.
• Good reading comprehension and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Former Zachry employee or ROF’ed (Return Offered Former) employee.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Experience on an industrial construction site.
• Formal or technical education.

Physical Requirements

• Extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
• Frequent use of arms and hands for signaling, grabbing, holding, turning, pushing, and pulling objects, tools, and controls.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work on platforms/scaffolding with appropriate fall protection.
• Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing required PPE.
• Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
