About the role

A growing law firm is seeking a talented attorney with 3+ years of experience in labor and employment law to join our dynamic and growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of employment-related matters, including litigation and advisory work for businesses across various industries. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for advocating on behalf of employers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal counsel on Employment Law matters including wage and hour, PAGA, workplace disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, etc.
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including pre-litigation strategy, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Represent clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution forums.
  • Advise clients on risk management and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Negotiate settlements and work to resolve disputes in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other correspondence.
  • Develop strategies to prevent legal issues and minimize exposure for clients through proactive counsel.
  • Stay up to date with changes in employment law to provide clients with current and effective legal advice.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina and in good standing with the State Bar
  • 3+ years of labor and employment law experience, including litigation and advisory work
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience with wage and hour claims, discrimination cases, and employment contracts
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently
  • Excellent communication and client advocacy skills
  • Experience representing clients before state and federal employment agencies is a plus
  • Trial experience is a plus but not required
  • Must have strong writing and research skills
  • Candidate must have excellent academic credentials
