Labor And Delivery RN - Nights
About the role
Medical City McKinney is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for the Labor and Delivery unit, working nights (7pm-7am) with rotating weekends.
As a Registered Nurse at Medical City McKinney, you will perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, use therapeutic communication in daily practice, and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and direct care using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of the individual patient
- Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding healthcare
- Promote an environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture
- Maintain quality, age specific care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients as assigned
- Proactively advocate for patients and consistently educate patients/families throughout the continuum of care
- Delegate tasks to the appropriate level of staff
- Provide supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse assistants, student nurses, nurse externs/interns
Requirements
- 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Registered Nurse in the state of Texas or compact state license
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
