Lab Tutor, Math

About the role

Responsible for fostering independent learning by supporting students in developing learning strategies and reviewing concepts taught in class. Provides individual tutoring and organized study group sessions. Collaborates with supervisors in the review and development of lab resources and programming.

Responsibilities

• Conducts tutoring sessions with individual or multiple students in person and virtual environment.
• Provides constructive feedback and suggestions on student assignments.
• Reviews lab materials and evaluates usefulness of lab resources on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy of information.
• Acts as liaison with departments within area of discipline.
• Encourages use of lab by students through communication with faculty and development and delivery of lab orientation programs.
• Affords assistance with initiatives aimed at improving student retention and completion.
• Maintains an engaging learning environment and enhances student confidence and interest in learning.
• Maintains and enhances current knowledge of field or profession.
• Travels to training workshops, conferences, meetings and professional events outside of college locations, as needed.

Requirements

• Acceptable education required in one of the following related areas: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Business, Economics, Actuarial Science, Science, Astronomy, Secondary Education or greater, Engineering, Computer Science, Anatomy & physiology, Accounting, Biology, or other related discipline.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in related discipline
• Experience: One year of related experience

Pay

$37,337.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
