Lab Technician, Materials Science

About the role
Beta Analytic has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician. This is a full-time hourly position requiring candidates who are a commutable distance from our lab in Miami. We strongly encourage applicants with analytical chemistry experience.
The role involves preparing samples for analysis, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and adhering to internal standards and procedures. This is a production laboratory, not a research facility.
Responsibilities
- After appropriate training, independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
- Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of equipment.
- Assist with validation and MDL studies.
- Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions and operations.
- Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
- Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a physical science field is required (Chemistry is a plus).
- A minimum of one year of hands-on laboratory work, including college/university experience.
- Experience with cryogenics, chemicals, vacuum systems, pressure fittings, and familiarity with the behavior of gases under changing pressure (physical chemistry) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with proficiency in computer software.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort interfacing with all staff members at all levels of the company.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work to maximize efficiency and meet deadlines.
- Accountability and a team-player mindset.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Local candidates only (Miami-Dade & Broward).
- Must be comfortable working any day of the week, including weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for long periods of the day.
- Climbing up and down stairs.
- Regularly lifting as much as 40 pounds.
