About the role
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Responsibilities
- Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
- Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
- Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.
- Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.
- Maintain patient, specimen and track data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.
- Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
- Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- One year of lab experience.
Preferred qualifications
- An associate’s degree (preferably in Science) (or equivalent credit hours) will substitute for up to one year of experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements.
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system.
- Handles and transports biohazardous materials and potential carcinogens.
- Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Pay
Minimum hourly: $22.25
Maximum hourly: $22.25
