About the role

Vitalant is seeking a Laboratory Technician dedicated to making a positive difference. The role supports Vitalant's life-saving mission by operating within the laboratory handling responsibilities that include component production, labeling, record reviewing and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate data records and documentation.
  • Prepare blood components through processes such as centrifugation, separation, freezing, thawing, washing, storage, sterile docking, transformation, and filtration.
  • Ensure product quality, volume, appearance, and time requirements.
  • Conduct labeling for routine and special components and implement quarantine procedures.
  • Maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Handle and operate laboratory equipment with basic keyboarding skills.
  • Work flexible shifts and overtime when necessary.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • No experience required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Must possess basic keyboarding skills and the ability to handle and operate laboratory equipment.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and overtime when necessary.

Skills/Abilities

  • Able to stand for long periods of time, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Detail oriented and possesses strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Possesses basic keyboarding skills and the ability to handle and operate laboratory equipment.

Pay

  • Base Hourly Rate: 21.00 - 21.63 DOE.
  • 3rd Shift Differential: 14%.
  • Weekend Shift Differential: 8%.

Schedule

  • Shift: Thurs-Mon 12:00 am - 8:30 am.
  • Work Shift (if Applicable): Shift 3 (United States of America).
