Lab Technician I

As a Lab Tech I, you will perform laboratory tests on soils, aggregates and HMA, prepare reports, and collect samples from jobsites and plants for a wide variety of transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of construction managers, office managers, inspectors, and contractors to successfully complete the construction of projects.
• Perform field sampling and testing, and perform laboratory testing per UDOT, AASHTO, ASTM, and other agency procedures and processes.
• Complete test reports and documentation per UDOT and other agency requirements for all testing performed.
• Work alongside UDOT construction crew or other agency construction management personnel in an augmentation role.

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• Certification under American Concrete Institute (ACI) as Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I required or UDOT equivalent.
• Certification under WAQTC guidelines for Sampling and Density (SRDTT).
• Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with clients and multi‑discipline team members.
• Willingness to work on projects locally and travel between labs daily.
• Willingness to work either day or night shift depending on construction schedules.
• Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• 0‑4 years of experience.

Pay

The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.

Schedule

Work may be day or night shift depending on construction schedules.
