About the role
We are seeking a professional to perform and oversee various laboratory procedures and processes. This role contributes to our vision of creating healthier communities by delivering high-quality, efficient care while fostering exceptional experiences for every member of our community.
Responsibilities
- Performs daily lab operations including sample processing, result reporting/distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow, tailored to the age and needs of the patient/population served. Communicates special circumstances to appropriate personnel.
- Spends at least 50% of time in other job functions such as supply chain management, project management, and providing direction and oversight of others within the assigned area.
- Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and orders, demonstrating sensitivity to their needs.
- Complies with policies, procedures, and initiatives of laboratory services, the hospital, and the system. Understands, communicates, and adheres to standards set by governmental and accrediting agencies including TJC, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA.
- Performs duties in a manner that promotes quality patient care, customer service, and satisfaction while ensuring safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the performance improvement process.
- Gains and maintains functional knowledge of system computers as required by job assignment.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency. Supports department-based goals contributing to the organization’s success and serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- One (1) year of clinical work experience or graduation from an approved medical trade school program.
