Lab Technician - Contract

About the role

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build hands-on laboratory experience in an industrial environment. You’ll work alongside engineers and technical specialists and gain exposure to microscopy, spectroscopy, particle analysis, filtration testing, and materials characterization. You’ll also get to see how laboratory results are applied to real-world problems rather than simply running repetitive tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing to identify and characterize contaminants and particles
• Use microscopy and spectroscopy techniques to evaluate samples
• Assist with SEM and EDS analysis
• Evaluate filter materials for porosity, condition, integrity, and composition
• Prepare and track samples and maintain accurate laboratory records
• Document test results and help prepare technical reports
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment
• Assist engineers and technical specialists with testing and data collection
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment

Requirements

• 1+ year of laboratory experience preferred; academic lab experience may also be considered
• Experience with microscopy, spectroscopy, chemical analysis, materials testing, or filtration testing is helpful
• SEM/EDS experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document results
• Comfortable working hands-on with laboratory equipment and samples
• Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not required
• Oil & gas, petrochemical, filtration, or industrial laboratory experience is a plus

Pay

$26 – $30 per hour
