Responsibilities

  • Gathers samples for analytical testing and performs various laboratory tests on products, raw materials, ingredients, and lab samples to determine if they meet necessary requirements.
  • Prepares samples of products for future reference and documents results.
  • Examines results of audit tests to identify problems with sanitation and manufacturing processes.
  • Enters laboratory data into computer system.
  • Alerts management when products are out of specification.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety or quality problems to management and assists appropriate personnel.
  • Examines inventory to determine what supplies need to be ordered and informs appropriate personnel.
  • Trains other employees on the proper use of equipment and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

  • Two-year Associate’s Degree in a Dairy or Food related field, or the equivalent experience.
  • Strong math and inspection skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions, including limited exposure to a 35° temperature cold storage environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, shifts, and overtime.
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to read meters and charts accurately and possess skills to maintain lab records.
  • Familiarity with lab procedures, such as dairy lab; proper use and care of laboratory testing and analyses equipment.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work without supervision.
  • Work requires frequent standing, walking, and repetitive motions with good dexterity.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Ability to work and perform well in a team environment, which may on occasion include pressure situations.

Schedule

6pm–6am rotating 12-hour shift.
