Lab Technician

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect, log, and file oil samples for quality control checks.
• Perform quality control analysis in accordance with plant or customer specifications.
• Perform laboratory housekeeping duties to include washing glassware, cleaning floors and cabinets and emptying trash containers.
• Operate quality control instruments.
• Learn to calibrate and perform simple maintenance on laboratory instruments.
• Learn specialized quality control tests to include but not limited to solid fat index, spectrometry and chromatography.
• Perform all work within safety guidelines established by local, state and federal agencies as well as company policies.
• Perform job within established CGMP’s.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2-4 years’ experience or college graduate.
• Reading, writing and math skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

• A College Degree in Science.
• Knowledge of quality control / Food Safety.
• Knowledge of chemistry.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Able to move freely throughout the Quality Control Laboratory and Oil Refinery facility to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying equipment or samples (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
• Must be able to wear protective equipment.
