About the role

The Lab Technician supports laboratory-based scientific investigations by carrying out routine technical tasks and experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, prepare, and analyze laboratory samples in accordance with established procedures.
  • Carry out routine laboratory tests and experiments under defined conditions.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Accurately record test data, observations, and results in paper and/or electronic formats.
  • Assist in reviewing and interpreting test results, escalating any inconsistencies or unexpected findings.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and proper working condition.
  • Support inventory tracking and assist with ordering laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Prepare materials, samples, and equipment for testing and experimentation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic laboratory or testing issues.
  • Collaborate with the Innovation, Quality Control, and Process Innovation teams as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of laboratory work, findings, and company information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in science, engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical field required.
  • Prior laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience in materials testing, plastics, polymers, calcium carbonate, or manufacturing environments is plus.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and safety.

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of laboratory testing procedures and analytical methods.
  • Ability to operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
  • Strong data entry and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other basic computer applications.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions, safety guidelines, and testing protocols.

Management Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Critical thinking and advanced problem-solving.
  • Ability to lead, train, and develop junior staff.
