About the role
Liquid Environmental Solutions is seeking a Lab Technician to join their team in Mobile. This position offers competitive salary, medical/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all liquids maintain safe properties and chemistry as they are cleaned in the liquid processing plant.
- Handle incoming trucks and verify information on offloading tickets and manifests.
- Perform routine chemical and physical analysis of wastewater/industrial water from incoming tankers to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Prepare solutions, standards, and reagents for laboratory analyses in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Conduct monthly inventory of chemicals, reagents, solutions, and equipment essential to laboratory operations.
- Clean and maintain laboratory glassware and perform general housekeeping.
- Pre-approve samples dropped off by customers and analyze data to determine approval/rejection status.
- Generate reports on the results of analyses conducted and maintain quality control procedures.
- Assist plant operators during downtime and ensure adherence to safe work practices and federal/state laws.
- Maintain accurate files, enter test results into the computer, and generate invoices for billing.
- Manage regulatory paperwork (manifests, bills of lading, logbooks, etc.) in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations for proper recordkeeping.
- Serve as a technical liaison between customers and other departments of the facility.
- Develop expertise in understanding the chemistry of liquids to become a subject matter expert in the field.
- Coordinate with the laboratory supervisor on other projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience working as a lab technician.
- 3 hours of college chemistry (or wastewater experience may be substituted).
- Basic knowledge of laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety.
- Basic computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
