Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Participate in formulation development projects.
• Verify reactivity profile and physical testing properties to confirm correct formulations.
• Perform chemical testing on wet samples.
• Prepare polyurethane formulas on lab scale and mix samples.
• Operate titration equipment for chemical properties of OH, N%NCO, H₂O, and blowing agent.
• Record results in database, create spreadsheets, and maintain records.
• Organize and maintain lab area, including ordering supplies.
• Set up, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment.
• Prepare and update quality reports and work instructions.
• Report all discrepancies or conditions identified to be out of normal operating conditions to immediate supervisor.
• Participate in team problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow all internal and OSHA-required safety and environmental procedures.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Science (Chemistry preferred).
• 1–3 years of previous quality lab experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Experience working with polymers (a plus).
• Experience working with lab equipment (Karl Fischer water titration device, viscometer, general lab equipment).
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.

Work Environment

Tasks are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic and non-toxic materials. The employee must not wear loose-fitting clothing that may interfere with moving machinery and must wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while working. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, with occasional overtime possible.
