About the role
Join our engineering team as the architect and maintainer of our wireless and mobile application automated testing infrastructure. This hands-on role encompasses the full lifecycle of physical testbed assembly, hardware and software provisioning, device configuration, troubleshooting, and automation, playing a pivotal part in ensuring our development and validation teams always have reliable, scalable, and well-documented test environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, source, build, and maintain comprehensive testbed infrastructure for wireless and mobile app automated testing.
- Plan rack layouts, assemble and upgrade racks, and perform hardware updates for testing and validation needs.
- Configure and provision mobile devices (Android/iOS) including OS installation, network/APN and developer settings, and test account management.
- Diagnose and resolve testbed issues involving connectivity (wireless/USB/ethernet), network performance, device temperature management, application stability, and user/data integrity.
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs); research, recommend, and coordinate procurement of lab hardware; manage inventory for buildouts and replacements.
- Document testbed configuration, laboratory processes, and device data to ensure accessibility and clarity for test engineering teams.
- Deploy, image, and secure servers, NUCs, and compute nodes running Linux, Windows, or macOS.
- Build, manage, and allocate virtual machine resources (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, etc.) to expand and scale test infrastructure.
- Collaborate with lab operations to identify, acquire, and distribute test equipment (switches, phones, Macs, cables) to onsite labs.
- Install, configure, and maintain automation tools and lab monitoring solutions for system health and operational data collection.
- Develop scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar) to automate routine workflows such as device provisioning, account creation, and configuration validation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a laboratory, test environment, hardware, or IT operations role.
- Proficiency with rack assembly, structured cabling, and handling general laboratory equipment.
