Lab Support Technician - PRN Days
About the role
The Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) is part of the provider care team, acting in a support capacity for reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for the accurate, timely, and effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms. The LST II will exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service Standards with all customer interactions. The role includes the skillful acquisition of all required types of specimens for laboratory testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, and professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for laboratory reports, data, and scheduling functions.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills in all interactions.
- Acquire required types of specimens for laboratory testing using safe and accurate methodologies.
- Adhere to HIPAA confidentiality requirements and laboratory policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience or successful completion of a clinical training program.
- Must satisfactorily complete specific facility competencies (e.g., checklist, written examination, management observation) to be eligible for advancement.
