Lab Support Technician - Part Time
About the role
The Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) is part of the provider care team, acting in a support capacity for reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for the accurate, timely, and effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms. The LST II will exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service Standards with all customer interactions.
The LST II is responsible for the skillful acquisition of all required types of specimens, as needed, for laboratory testing utilizing safe, accurate, effective, and professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide laboratory support for reports, data, and scheduling functions.
- Acquire specimens for laboratory testing using safe and accurate methods.
- Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and adhere to lab policies.
- Deliver excellent customer service in all interactions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience or successful completion of a clinical training program.
- Must satisfactorily complete facility-specific competencies (e.g., checklist, written examination, management observation) to advance to the next job level.
